The opening sentence for the April 14th Flash Fiction for the Purposeful Practitioner: “Those are the directions…”
Carstairs had a problem with directions. He had an issue with north and south; east was easy as that was where the sun came from each morning, the west where it disappeared to each evening.
In his head echoed the chief’s final words “Those are the directions..”
That’s what he remembered and then there was something about arriving at a big rock that looked like a bear or was it a big bear that looked like a rock?
In front of him loomed the rocky outcrop. Beyond the rocks was supposed to be the treasure chest and he had to do something with it.
Take it back?
Bury it?
Sell it?
Photograph it?
He was in a quandary when a very large bear came around the bend and answered all his questions.

Haha. I love this bear out of nowhere. At least Carstairs has a good excuse as to why I didn’t do whatever he needed! Nice take on this prompt.
Thanks Mandi poor Carstairs is always in trouble in one form or another….
Hahaha! Guess it was a big bear that looked like a rock! LOL! Cute story!
Thank you Joy, happy to give you a laugh.
LOL – love the theme of your post – cuz, seriously, if I, an anti-mall personage, have to escort one more person into the maze and keep calm while saying, “um…no…we already went down that wing – did you decide to back track?” I will go crazy, unless I know there is a bear waiting around the bend to put me out of my misery – – LOL
One never knows where the bears are hiding. Thanks for stopping by.
Snorting with laughter in great delight! I thought “uh oh” Carstairs on a mission? Trouble ahead! And I love the insouciance of the quirky line ” and then there was something about arriving at a big rock that looked like a bear or was it a big bear that looked like a rock?”
I mean, you write it so well, it sounds like Carstairs is totally trying to figure this out – but oh, you are just too brilliantly wicked with this Michael XD
Loved the story 🙂
