Today’s prompt, write a time out poem.
Step back, take a breath
I need some space
You’re all over me.
You are so full on
I need to take some time,
Sit alone, in my room
Gather myself and take stock
Decide how close I want to be.
You always tell me what to do
How to think
When and how to behave
It’s all too much
So get out of my hair.
Maybe that’s why I don’t have any!
So my time out is my time
You go do your thing
Whatever it is
Stay away from me
I’ll be back.
I’d miss you too much…..

This is great! I could feel how desperate you are for a time out yet I love the last line! “I’d miss you too much.”
Thanks Joy and that I thought was the point of a time out, you go some other place but you come back after…have a great day.
The give and take … the need to have breathing room …. especially at the beginning of relationships ….. when all is a blur and rush …. or conversely, when relationships are too heated …. the need to step back, to gather and regroup.
Funny how we so often forget that before the “us” we were “one/me” and that a union of whatever type/sort is not an invitation to lose the “one/me.” Must be one of the follies of human nature. 😉
Yes exactly there is that issue of losing oneself in a relationship…..a time out every so often is not such a bad thing…
space and place and time …. it’s good to try to keep a sense of measured sanity in the whirlwind 🙂
Each of us needs a time to be alone, a space of our own. We all have to gather the fragments of ourselves that got lost and collect new pieces we acquired. That is how, I think, we become whole.
Yes indeed Maria, we are the sum of all our parts.
