This week’s task is to write a “freedom” poem
Is it worth it?
The question asked so many times
The struggle to escape my tormentor
To break away
Forge an identity
A life away from humiliation.
Its priceless I retorted
A weight lifted from my shoulders
My step lightened
Hope regained
Shackles disregarded.
A light shines in the distance
Each day I move towards
Life, love, freedom.

I can see this verse echoing so many who have escaped oppression and gained freedom.
Priceless indeed.
Thank you Jules, have a good evening….
My thoughts exactly. Lovely poem
Beautiful, Michael… such an endearing poem for all who have felt enslaved in one way or another. Thank you!
Thanks Lori, its a good word to write to, I have experienced all aspects from the trapped to the escape and then the discovery of being able to love again….
It has definitely become one of my favorite words 🙂 you’ve had quite some experiences then Michael… I am happy that you found love again 🙂
Nice poem and intriguing photo.
Thanks Kim, I appreciate you stopping by…
Marvelous writing as always, Michael–and a resounding YES. We have Nothing, without Freedom.
Thank you Dell, there were times when it seemed a long way off.
Oh friend, I know exactly the feeling, arduous journey (despite different details, no doubt).
Ahhh…
My thoughts exactly.
The feeling of freedom and the feeling of rediscovered ability to love can be the same.
Thank you yes I think you are right….
