It was said I should celebrate today
There are so many reasons to do so.
My gender, yes I am male
I have two muses, so lucky me.
I have been lauded today
“You and your ego
Should be having a mini-celebration
At the joy of it!”
All in recognition of my writing.
Another thanked me
For bringing others to her prompt
“My appreciation for helping my site!”
Earlier today I was told
‘It would an honour’
To help out with another blog site.
Then the demons kick in.
Part of me just doesn’t believe it.
What pretence I hear them say
If only they knew the real you.
I want to shut off the computer
For in real life there is pain
Not the pretend joy of the net.
What is it I might celebrate?
My luck at putting words
Randomly in some cognitive order?
That I have an ability to explore ideas
Express them, have others enjoy?
My cynic jests at this dissembling.
Overall I will celebrate today
One factor greater than all others,
That I can rise each morning
And being vertical
Take one step forward
Into a future which despite myself
Is exciting and rewarding.
I learnt long ago the value
Of self love, of humility,
Of moving forward
Aware of limitations
Celebrating the me that I am.

Awesome, celebrate thee indeed! Several prompts I enjoyed on your blog today inspired me to write when I was under the weather, so thank you, Michael!
Great you did join in. The blog owner are very happy to see new people join in.
Your posts have been really fun to read, Michael. I just finished another thanks to your post /reminder of Love is in Da Blog but on my other blog at Traces.
Great. You make me feel good knowing you are participating.
You should celebrate the writer in you Michael. Why not? It is you that writes the words that people can enjoy.
Thank you Jackie, I think that is good advice.
The computer, cyberspace, allows us anonymity, a mask for our sometimes reality. It’s not a bad thing. It gives us time to recover anonymously if needed, without judgement. Things we have to offer to others out there are still who we really are. Thankfully our “purpose” can continue without our physical presence. You offer so much to others, Michael.
Thank you so much Mandy, its how it came out today…..I did write a few other more positive pieces today as well.
Well done for celebrating yourself anyway :-). I believe that the pain in ones life makes the happiness we experience blogging or otherwise on the net more valuable. Because we know that both is part of ones life.
Thank you Bee its how the words came out today. I liked this prompt, much to think about.
indeed 🙂
I believe we all have the inner cynic nasty-foul-mouthed censor who just lurks at the slightest opportunity of a hint of self-doubt – and then – it’s gloves off. And perhaps, this is something to be celebrated in and of itself, yes? Why not? In fairness, every time we sit and write – however the voice emerges – in sorrow, shame, self- deprecation, humor, love, compassion, life lesson, fun and jest, fantasy etc. it is a triumph of the human spirit that has won – over the ego, which, of course loves the adoration. But in your case Michael, your “league of fans” are genuine and honest, and if we admire, adore and love you and your works, it means we accept all of you, as you are, without prejudice, yes?
So, here’s to the epic battles fought on so many levels – from the psychological, to the physical, to ones, where, quietly, we accept what no longer serves us, and we walk away with our dignity intact, and in grace.
Cheers to you Michael – you may feel like a diamond in the rough, but a diamond is still a diamond, yes? 😀
Yes a diamond is a diamond, some are more valuable than others…lol
You are right part of being human is to doubt yourself from time to time.
I write because I see it as a challenge and sometimes I’m happy with what i write and other times I think it needs a major re write.
It’s always intrigued me the people who read my blog.
Take you Mercy for your comment, very much appreciated.
I agree with everything you’ve just written – and so, should I be bold and daring, and say “Great minds think alike, even if we are a bit rough ….” ? 😀
Well if the rough bits rub together from time to time they may smooth each other out…..
That is true … a very good point -I like it 🙂
That was very powerful 🙂
Thank you Justine, hope you are having a good day.
