This week’s prompt: …and then I smiled…
The temple was on top of a mountain and there were only ten thousand steps to climb.
A voice inside said to me, “How hard could it be, they are only steps.”
Fatigue is an odd thing, it creeps up on you, grabs you in the thighs, tells your knees they are insane, at the same time your brain is justifying the next step.
After an hour, of taking more steps than I thought imaginable we made it. There was a temple, people milling round and a girl in high platform shoes. It was then I smiled.

I like that girl in a high platform shoes, cheers!
That was actually true, I couldn’t believe she walked up all those stairs dressed in those shoes. I had good walking shoes and I was very tired, then again she was a young lady with more energy than I did have.
Well now I suppose I would have smiled or looked at her with my mouth open…
As did I. Couldn’t believe it.
I feel my thighs and knees moaning and groaning as the steps beckon. I was gobsmacked with the platform shoes. ❤ ❤
Thanks so much, my legs had similar thoughts as well especially after the first ten minutes….
I know about climbing stairs. I need help from behind nowadays or more than five.
😀 😀
I smiled too. 🙂 I bet that girl has great calves! Mine would never have made it up there even in flat shoes!
Thanks Judee, it was a struggle for much of the way and I thought I was a little bit fit.
