LITERARY QUOTE

“…you can,
you should,
and if you’re brave enough to start,
you will.”
(Stephen KingOn Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft)

The writing class gathered for the last time as the special guest took to the lectern. We had all paid a few extra dollars to have him travel to our town to deliver an address. He was a man of great fame, a writer of many novels, his fame well known to us all. His best selling novel about a man who journeys through the snow and ice to rescue his one great love had been one of the most harrowing yet enjoyable reads of my year. On this day as I looked outside, the sun just setting, the heat of the day still lingered, the room we were in felt as though the heat had found a place to incubate itself in. But we put that discomfort aside as the great man began his talk, one that was to inspire me to write my first short story.

I assume that special guest speaker would never know the impact he made on one young life, or how your writing would educate, touch, and inspire others? That was lovely, Michael.
