My coffee shop bulges
Crowds crush forward
Standing ten deep they peer
On toes, leaning on shoulders
There’s a man there,
A woman too.
It can’t be can it?
They eye each other over their lattes
Curiosity raises an eyebrow.
‘I’m off to see a wizard,’ says Dorothy
‘You’re in the right place,’ says Harry
The spectators press
His wand is raised
A bolt of lightning
Dorothy’s coffee, refreshed.
A collective ohhhhhhh
Settles over the onlookers
IPhones record the event
Destined for social media.
Harry smiles, Dorothy giggles
They toast each others health.
My cash register runs hot.

Ha ha.. what a great way to get more coffee sold.. like a yellow brick road for real..
Thanks Bjorn, yes indeed. Have a good day/night.
haha…oh that would be quite the show wouldn’t it… i’d love to meet either of them in a coffeeshop… how awesome would that be… and even from different books.. makes it all the more exciting
Thanks Claudia, it seemed the way to go. Excellent prompt by the way.
cool take on the prompt…I’ve never considered what might have happened if Dorothy had met a REAL wizard…
Thanks Bryan, interesting outcome though.
Very cute! I’ve never been a Harry Potter fan so it took me a minute. I figured it out when Harry said “You’re in the right place.” Peace, Linda
Thank you Linda, all a bit of fun.
Many of us doting seniors were rabid Harry Potter fans; just lit up our inner child, & Dorothy, like Alice before her, lives eternally in our hearts. Who needs a mixed metaphor when you can star-cross characters in a coffee shop; wide smiles.
LOL, yes indeed. As a doting senior I connect with your comment. Thanks for dropping by.
I like Glenn’s star-crossed comment, very apt. A wonderful bit of whimsy indeed!
Thank you so much Anna, have a good day/night.
I’m glad I read Harry Potter (at least the first book). You’re a wizard with words!
Thank you DJ, I have put my wand away for today, as I am about to cook, if only I could produce the same magic in that department……oh well I try…
Reblogged this on S.O.U.L. S-P-A-C-E.
I wouldn’t even mind seeing that, and I’m not one to be star struck. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Jackie, yes it would be a sight I would think.
“IPhones record the event” – I am sure their friends on Facebook will love this!
Thanks Gabriella it would make a splash that’s for sure.
What a memorable event indeed! I am sure it would break some records in the ‘tweet’ department. It must be hard to be a celebrity though. Ha, can’t even get a simple cup of coffee without creating a furor.
Yes it must be hard some days, though mr potter could probably conjure his own should be so desire. Thanks so much for reading.
Fun! This seemed easy for you…perhaps some of us over think and miss the obvious little stories that can be transposed into magic and fantasy ;)..like our beloved characters with cell phones,
Thanks Kathy it was fun, I appreciate your comment.
(gasp) “Ohhhhhhh”… i wanna see the photos of Dorothy and Harry together!!
I think we all would Lynn. Thanks so much for your comment.
Now having someone to refresh your coffee would be wonderful–especially when you get caught up with writing. LOL wish I had a dollar for every cold cup of coffee I’ve finished. This was indeed a lovely touch of whimsy, Michael.
Thank you Lyn, it was whimsical writing.
… did like the coffee house… what a great place to meet people
It certainly is and thank you for dropping by.
Awww! Cute and very amusing! A money-spinner for sure!
Thank you Marina, you’d be excited as the cafe owner wouldn’t you.
This is a fun tale and cleaver too.
Thanks so much Kim, lovely to see you drop by.
Great poem and fun to read. Who would think Dorothy and Harry tar-crossed lovers?
You would never have guessed it would you. Thanks so much for reading and for following my blog. Best wishes for 2015.
