I couldn’t believe my eyes but there she was.
Plain as day, Marilyn Monroe in that white dress looking fabulous.
Thankfully the photo my sister took, doesn’t betray me standing there with my mouth open catching flies.
I was dumbfounded, I couldn’t move but when I did she vanished.
I was blinking and rubbing my eyes when Mr. Bidwell came out.
‘You’ve been caught son. Not to worry it happens every Wednesday.’
I’m not sure what he meant. He sympathetically patted my shoulder said, ‘You’ll get over it son. ‘
But photos don’t lie, do they?

Dear Summerstommy,
Every Wednesday?
Aloha,
Doug
Thanks Doug, hard to believe isn’t it.
Great piece! Each line made me smile.
Thank you Gabriella, I reading your comments. That I made you smile is good to know.
Dear Summerstommy,
Bet he’ll be there every Wednesday from now on.
shalom,
Rochelle
Thank you Rochelle, I appreciate your comments. Someone should keep an eye out do you think?
I agree with Rochelle. I’d be there with about 50 video cameras every Wednesday after that. 🙂
Thanks David, Come on 50 might be a bit of an overkill, she’s only human, I think.
Way to take that picture and run with it! I like the direction you ran.
janet
Thanks Janet it was fun as always.
This made me smile, great story. 🙂
Thanks MissK I see there are a few MM stories coming out of this.
Mr. Bidwell’s affirmation is certainly as good as the photo–who knows, maybe your unlikely hero’s the one to bring her back the other six days of the week.
Not sure he can but I like your thinking. Thanks for the comment.
I wish I had the address, I want to be there next wednesday!
Thanks Lewis could create a stir if we all turn up there each Wednesday.
disappearances and a white dress- definitely out of this world!
My dear pilgrim all within the power of the imagination.
Fabulous – loved the character of Mr Bidwell – all knowing! A great idea.
Thanks so much Neens appreciate you commenting on my work.
If he is a tweeter the crowd on Wednesday will be sizable. Perhaps Bidwell is angling for business.
Thanks Joe as usual your comment has me laughing. I never thought of Bidwell as being behind it all.
Great premise, building your story around Marilyn. You may have created an urban legend. Ron
Thanks Ron you think so? It seemed like a logical path to follow.
i love it! 🙂 let’s all go there next Wednesday ^^
Thanks for the comment. I’ll be there around 2.
Before I wrote my piece, I was thinking od something similar but I didn’t know how to make it work. Glad I didn’t as you ferreted this out wonderfully.
I was thinking of something similar before o landed on my topic. Glad I didn’t as you ferreted the idea wonderfully
Thank you so much. Your comment is very generous.
I saw th image too!
Wednesdays; that explains a lot ‘)
Thanks Dawn. Wednesday is the day, apparently.
Great concept! Love the reappearing Marilyn!
Hello Jan, thanks for your comment. Yes Marilyn just jumped off the page at me and who am I to deny her another day of glory.
Every Wednesday! I’ll be there too – there’s something about Marilyn…!
Thanks Freya, yes Marilyn isn’t there. Thanks for the comment.
Oh every wednesday.. let’s go there and catch flies
Thanks Bjorn, see you there Wednesday.
A story about how this photograph came to be taken – very meta! Now I want to go stalk that corner and wait for Marilyn. 🙂
Thanks for the comment Rachael. Better get there early as I think there’s going to be a crowd.
Fun story, and neat creativity to add Marilyn to the street corner. I bet that guy will be there next Wednesday to see her again!
Thanks Zooky from what I gather from the comments there will be quite a crowd there.
Men! I’ve a good mind to re-write this story from a female perspective. I’d have …………….. standing there in his underpants. (I’m not naming names)! Thanks for making me smile. Inventive story, well-written.
Oh go on Ann I dare you!
I am happy you enjoyed my piece. Thanks for the comment.
Can’t. My beefcake hero isn’t dead yet, though at my age, he ought to be!
Oh come on, we have years left in us……maybe…hopefully…..hehehe
I’m sure! Both my legs still work, anyway, though less eagerly first thing in the morning!
Pictures don’t..do they…actually a real question worth pondering over…a good short tale, evocating Marilyn’s memory..
Thanks Ye Pirate I am glad you enjoyed my post thank for visiting.
Such a fun piece, and I loved the nonchalance of Mr. Bidwell =)
Thanks Troy, yes he is a tad understated. Thanks for the comment.
Great take! I love stories like this. It makes you wonder.
Thanks Jackie I appreciate your comment. Thanks for reading my work. I checked out your blog, great recipes, do you have anything for a low potassium diet?
not sure if I do, I’d have to check. I also have a writing blog where I too write for FF’s. You might want to check that out too. In meantime I will see what I can find for low potassium diets.
Thanks Jackie that’s very kind of you.
A real gem. Marilyn. It just didn’t cross my mind. Thanks for sharing this.
Thanks Patrick she just popped into my mind. Happy you enjoyed it.
Love the mystery “every Wednesday” creates!
Thank you Benni for reading and commenting on my post. Apparently from the other comments Wednesday looks like being a big day.
Ha! I love your take! Yeah, I bet he’s there every Wednesday from now on, but he’ll have to be quiet about it so it’s his little secret.
Thanks Amy for your comment, from all the above comments his secret is out and there’s to be a crowd there next Wednesday.
Very nice take on the photo. Apparently even Ghosts like to keep schedules.
Thanks Jules for your comment and for finding me. The universe loves order.
I really enjoyed your story this week, guess there’ll be crowds on Wednesdays in future.
Dee
Thank you Dee from all accounts yes there will be a crowd come Wednesday, I’d be getting there early.
