I am awake. I look at you sleeping beside me.
I am enamored.
You, the most beautiful person anyone could long for.
We have laughed and we have cried.
Our energies spent, we have slept the peaceful sleep of the contented.
I long for you to open your eyes, to see the morning me.
As I watch each breathe your chest as if in some restful rhythm rises and falls.
In sleep your eyes flicker as if you are dreaming. Of me?
My heart races thinking of the love I have for you.
You make me feel whole, complete.
I could wish for no more.

You were the perfect architect of your haibun there, including wonderful words to guide us, to help us read at you want, words like ‘complete’ (working BACKWARDS) ‘races’ ‘rhythm’, ‘rises’ ‘falls’ all made this work at exactly the right pace.A raw, personal and intimate haibun that I really enjoyed. Wonderful haiku. We will be doing the Honourable Mentions in Dispatches at the end of each month now,which accordingly means haibun writers can of course feature more than once.

First person can be more of a challenge for me depending on subject. I think the more personal I reach, I tend to use third person. I’ve been trying first person more often. I’ve really enjoyed your posts.
