If you watch carefully you can see them.
They flit from tree to tree, the shadows they hide behind
But more worrying, is they are watching you.
They know where you are because in this glade
You are in their back yard.
Not that they will do you any harm
It’s more they want to protect what is theirs.
So they watch and ensure no harm comes to you
For if it did there would be consternation
As others would come, trample on what is precious
Upset their ecosystem, for everything you see
Has a purpose and a function.
You are a mere mortal human
With not the eyes nor the intellect
To understand the glade.
So tread carefully, know you are being watched,
Enjoy the tranquillity, rest in the shade
Those cooling breezes are them,
Fanning you, keeping you content and out of harms way.

Unseen presences…very apt for this photo, Michael…
It’s what the image said to me.
Enjoy your weekend Sue.
You too, Michael 🙂
Ferns always mean faeries. If the Faerie folk trust you, you can rest easy 🙂
So true Lyn. Hope you are doing well.
Shade in the glade, nice story.
Beautiful 🙂
Thank you Melanie, lovely to see you stop by.
Well written with such a sense of mystery. These faeries are lovely and harmless if left to their own but interfering sounds like it could result in terrible consequences. I did really love that this tale was mysterious and fey.
Thanks so much.

Everybody has a different ecosystem, even among humans. We often end up upsetting another’s lifeline – wilfully or inadvertently.
