Maria lived on a sheep farm in the country and it was her first visit to the beach. At first glance the ocean was overwhelming in size and sound as the waves pounded down onto the rocks.
She loved the thrill of the sea spray hitting her face, the smell of the ocean wasn’t what she expected, in fact everything was more than she anticipated.
She stood watching the waves roll in and crash onto the rocks, the foam splashing onto the rocks and swirling around her feet.
This was a day to remember, the day she met the ocean.

Kids first reaction to the ocean is amazing isn’t it Michael.
Always a delight to watch.
My first five years were living by the ocean. I still love watching the waves. Powerful and awesome is the ocean.
Yes I get the same feeling. Hope you are staying cool 😎
Not too bad actually, had to turn the aircon down…or should that be up?
Up I’d say phew it’s not ending is it
And still more days to come
Ugh! ☹️
This made me smile in delight. My daughter was four when we took her to the seaside. Barefooted she ran along the warm sand and dashed into the water – turned and ran screaming away. Was it the sudden cold or the wave that rushed up over her knees? I’ll never know. Later she enjoyed the beach.
Thank you for prompting my memory
I think for many its the cold, you don’t anticipate how cold it might be though if the wave knocks you over you get a real good taste of it, literally.
