Greedy Girl fondled her new credit card, took another bite from her chocolate biscuit and thought if I shift this and delay that I can buy this. We can do without this and they can get that next week. I just have to get this. The kids will understand. They always do.
In the next room the children sat around the table wondering if dinner was going to appear. They had been banned from the kitchen as Greedy Girl maintained control of the pantry.
Greedy Girl took another bite and flicked on the on-line shopping channel.

Wow, that’s bad when you let your kids go hungry…
It happens
I know–I lived in a showcase home and was hungry all the time (which explains my obsessive cooking/eating now).
“There are so many horror stories of starved and neglected children. Cupboards and fridges locked, food for some but not for one. The evil that people do,” she sighed.
I defnintely know people whose rent is in arrears and still pay for nights out or new clothes. Twisted priorities.
A chilling read and as you say, not an unusual one either.

Well she’s not a very nice person is she. 😡
Wow, not a nice lady at all. Poor kids. Always thought about last. And not good to live off credit cards, gets you in trouble. I learned it the hard way! Great job Michael you show this moral incredibly effectively.
That’s so sad. There really are parents like this, who’ll spend their grocery money or their rent/mortgage payment on frivolous things and neglect their kids. Great story.
Thanks Jenn.
Her addiction to material things is causing these poor children to suffer. The sad part is she doesn’t even realized the damage she’s done. A very real truth to the prompt.
Thanks Nortina glad you thought so. Have a great day.
