For today’s prompt, take the phrase “Star (blank),” replace the blank with a word or phrase
In sixteen years there was
Cancer
Divorce
Remarrying
Work keeping her busy
Far too busy for children.
But she clung to a false reality.
Any day now she thought
When he comes to the door
Says lets try again
I am ready.
So she waited.
Her stark reality
Abhorrent to others
Sickening and delusional.
She denied the years of abuse
Saw him as the father of her children
Wanted a life like she once had
But had long destroyed
Along with him.

A true sadness. The harsh klieg lights of reality leave few shadows. Prefer the softness of the candle light that leaves no hard edges. Which hurts the soul more, I wonder sometimes.
Thank you, a sad situation indeed.
Hauntingly sad poem and very powerful.
Thanks Joy, a tale of woe and delusion behind this one……
