Five sentence Story – Fabric

LUCAS-GROGAN-PRIVATE-ISLAND-BED

My son is a famous/infamous artist depending on how you see his art work and he has played with embroidery as a form of artistic expression for a number of years.

He has produced a number of works, of double bed doona size, where he lays out his stories of social comment clearly for all to see.

His work has proved popular with one quilt currently the property of a major regional art gallery and another sold the first night it was exhibited.

That he can use fabric this way never ceases to amaze me as I watch his artistic skills and reputation develop.

Like a lot of good art it is stunning in its simplicity and made more so when you consider he has used a needle and thread to manipulate his images.

This seems like it would be a fun challenge. I just read your VisDare 33 story and I thought it was true. This one seems true to me too.

Oh WOW!! That is so exciting. And he’s actually making money at his art. That is so cool! He must be very talented! 😀

When I say he sold his art work and he did, in the art world other than any other profession as far as I can gather, he waits months to be paid, as a result he is often poor. It would be nice to say he gets his talent from me, but then I would simply be a lying bastard.I struggle to draw a straight line.

Ahahaha! Well I can draw a straight line . . . but it’s crooked! You and I have a lot in common there, Summers!

It’s too bad you son has to wait so long to be paid. Well at least he’s only a starving artist some of the time. 😉

Starving artists ask their fathers for help, on a regular basis, though to his credit he does pay me back.in my retirement I hope to be a bit more involved with him, try and go to exhibitions as they are often in different major cities. Thanks for commenting.

Thank you Freya, he is on an amazing journey with his art, has exhibited in many places around the world. I would love to be able to go to New York in September to see his work on opening night but maybe another time.
