I am sitting in their world.
Aware I am trespassing on sacred sites, sites that have existed for thousands of years.
Each vital to the existence of all life forms.
Each layer I step carefully upon is an integral part of their ecosystem.
I wonder how they are able to work so well in unison.
Each dependent on the other to provide the fundamental sustenance for their respective worlds to thrive.
My world could learn so much.
The water flows through providing the nutrients essential for the survival of this wonderful landscape.
I marvel as I sit here and soak in this wondrous place. At no point am I called upon to leave but rather the worlds I infiltrate are accepting of my presence. I listen and the gurgling, the buzzing, the chirping is each in its own unique way welcoming me.
My prayer as I sit here, is they accept me as one with them.
water provides life
microcosms contented
we are as one

I love this! The sense of harmony and respect from the persona as ‘he’ discovers a new world.
Your piece reminds me of some friends who went to Vanuatu to visit their son who was teaching there. They were welcomed by the local population and spent a few days in the forest with them, observing how I lived.
Thanks Gabriella I am glad you were able to relate to this. I have places like this around where I live. In fact I have stood in a place not dissimilar to the photo. Thanks for your generous comment.
In which part of Australia do you live? It sounds lovely. A cousin of mine used to live in Perth.
I live on the east coast, about two and a half hours north of Sydney, in the Hunter Valley.
I feel that way when I sit at the bench down by the creek that edges our backyard. I hope to be accepted.
WP wouldn’t play nice so I had to post my haibun here:

Yes that’s it, acceptance as being on the side of nature not about to exploit it or abuse it.
I’ll check out your haibun later.
And this could well have been The Daintree – really lovely thought of being one with nature -nicely done summer.
Thanks you RM, there are places like this all round Australia, some very similar to the pic near here.
you are welcome summer 🙂
Very nicely done
Thank you Celestine I appreciate your comment.
Great haibun here, full of natural tranquility, made AnElephant feel at peace with his world.
And he has been through the Hunter Valley, very beautiful.
And wine country, which may explain a lot!
You lucky elephant you. Great wines over here. Thanks for your comment.
This is glorious. The way to feel. To abide and just be with all life. I love your haibun this week. Oh okay I always seem to enjoy what you’ve written Michael, but this is so very elemental! 🙂
Thank you Penny, you make my week with your lovely comments on my haibun.
